Day 84 of 366

A glimpse into Steele Academy…day 8 of quarantine.

I forgot what day it was. But I know it’s Spring Break, and the kids FINALLY decided they wanted to play with toys instead of school first thing this morning.

So that’s what they did.

For 20 mins.

Then, they climbed in my bed and wanted to snuggle and watch a movie.

It was nice.

For 20 mins.

Then, the fighting started. And I had to threaten them. They calmed down and finished the movie—which was surprising.

After that, we did virtual preschool with Play to Learn Preschool (Ms. Jamie is awesome!). Then jumped on Instagram Live for drawing and story time with Pete the Cat author James Dean. That led to a solid 30 minutes of art time…and let me tell you, this mom is not the best artist.

During art time, we were interrupted by the Squirrel. More on the that later. Trust me, it’s worth waiting for.

After nap time, I was trying to finish up some school things, and they were [im]patiently waiting. They finish the Gatorade and decide they can refill their bottles with water. Five minutes later, I hear this…

Loud noise and splash.
“Oomfhphs.”
“Get a towel!”
“We have to clean up quick!”
“Before mommy comes in here!!”
…them scrambling to the bathroom for towels…
…me debating on what to do…
…them running back to the kitchen…
“Guuuuuuuys, what’d ya do?”
“Gabe spilled his water. But we are cleaning it up!!”
“You better get it all.”
“Yes ma’am!” In unison.
Five minutes later.
“We’re the best cleaners.”
“Mom is going to be so proud.”
“We’re winning.”
“This is the cleanest dishwasher ever.”
“Let’s hustle.”
“Hustle! We want to win the challenge! The cleaning challenge!”
“Come on!”
“I’m going as fast as I can!”
“Get the ground!”
“COME ON”
“I’M GOING”
“It’s over!”
“Yeah!”
“But we’re still cleaning, Gabe!”
“Oh? Okay.”
“Yeah. It’s not clean enough.”

“Okay. It’s over!”
“No. It’s not!”
“Okay. Keep cleaning.”

“Okay. It’s over”
“Whew. I need a drink.”

Less than 10 minutes later, Daniel walked in, and they were his.

Honestly, we are making it fun. We are baking and learning and cleaning and rearranging rooms. I am keeping up with the best of these moments as best I can.
